Hoarding

Weekly sessions

Clients engage in weekly sessions of 60 to 120 minutes with a dedicated hoarding practitioner, over a minimum duration of 6 weeks. These consistent, trauma-informed sessions allow for:

  • Gradual Trust-Building: Regular contact with the same practitioner cultivates emotional safety and rapport.
  • Cognitive and Emotional Support: Sessions may include mindset coaching, behavioural interventions, and empathy-driven guidance.
  • Paced Decluttering: Clients receive hands-on help sorting possessions while processing attachment and decision-making.
  • Progress Tracking: Each session contributes to measurable outcomes, supporting care plans, tenancy agreements, or safeguarding goals
  • A two-person team is available if required.
  • Includes the cost of disposal of 3 bags per visit on  1-hour package (usually £24 plus VAT at licensed waste stations)
  • Regular reports to social workers

This package can be tailored to match the profile and needs of the service user/patient

Post Clearance Monitoring

Once our hoarding service has reduced the hoarding to a safe level, we can monitor for hoarding relapse. This service is crucial to ensure long-term well-being and prevent the space from returning to its previous state. Our post-clearance support is part of a trauma-informed, person-centred approach.

Why Monitoring Matters

  • Hoarding is a chronic condition, not solved by clearance alone.
  • A clear-out can feel like a loss, triggering emotional distress.
  • Without ongoing support, individuals may quickly reaccumulate clutter.

Post-Clearance Monitoring Strategy

  • Regular follow-up visits to check on living conditions and offer encouragement.
  • Support plans tailored to the individual’s mental health, mobility, and social needs.
  • Multi-agency collaboration involving housing officers, social workers, and mental health professionals.
